Choice Chain on Campus Today

Members of the abortion awareness project advised Security Services that they will be setting up a “Choice” chain on the University of Lethbridge campus today beginning at 1 p.m.

Individuals from this group will be displaying materials in the area of the Students’ Union patio and bus loop. In past instances, the materials displayed and the ensuing debate on campus have been emotional for those not wishing to view the materials or participate in the discussion.

Individuals will be able to choose to walk by the display or not. Signage at either end of the display area will be erected to inform students, faculty, staff and community members of the display’s location and the nature of its contents. U of L Security Officers will also be present to advise of alternate routes if individuals want to avoid the area.

If there are members of our community that are feeling distress over this situation, please seek assistance through Counselling Services (http://www.uleth.ca/counselling/) at 403-317-2845 or through the University of Lethbridge Employee and Family Assistance Program at 1-800-663-1142.

Beware of Telephone Scams!

There are always a number of telephone scams in progress.  Some simple things to remember: banks will never ask you for your account numbers or money over the phone; contact your relatives in person regarding unknown urgent family matters; and contact the local police to confirm ongoing investigations!
