Markin Hall

  • This stopping point is located in Markin Hall, which is north of the 1st Choice Savings Centre.
  • Opened in 2010 this building houses the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Covers 10,400 sq ft on four floors, and houses approximately 230 faculty, staff, and grad students.
  • The building includes the Centre for Financial Market Research and Teaching (“Trading Room”) which provides direct connections to global trading markets, giving students hands-on experience with equities trading and risk management.
  • Also has the Simulation Health Centre, which has patient simulators for the Health Sciences students. Students can engage in clinical practice on life like mannequins which can simulate body functions in a realistic setting set up to imitate a hospital.
  • Building was designed to be ecofriendly in construction, meeting criteria for a silver rank by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.
  • Development of Markin Hall was a major part of the U of L’s Legacy of Leadership campaign, which was a fundraising campaign that raised over $35 million for students and infrastructure.
  • Named after Dr. Allan Markin, major contributor to the Legacy of Leadership campaign.
